Unique Ability, Dennis Fairall and Marianne Williamson

I attended a Strategic Coach session in Toronto last week. It was a one-on-one session (ironic that it’s a basketball term) where I got to explore my Unique Ability. In that session, I determined that one of my strengths is the connecting of what appears to be random thoughts, experiences, research, readings and conversations.

I have been reading about Dennis Fairall who is the track coach of one of our great Olympians, Melissa Bishop. His accomplishments in life are truly amazing. Follow the link to read more about Dennis and Melissa.

Where does this connection tie in for me? In the front of each of my journals, I have a quote from an author by the name Marianna Williamson:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Dennis Fairall certainly let his own light shine, then unconsciously gave others permission to do the same.
